Game rules and tips for Speed

In Speed, two to five participants play against each other. Either you join a game from the game list or create a game of your own and wait for your opponents to join in and challenge you. Answer as many questions as you can in one minute. If you do not know the answer you have the opportunity to “check”, leaving the question unanswered and moving on to the next without loosing valuable time.

All players, simultaneously and as quick as possible, answer a series of identical multiple choice questions. The players will be given points for a correct answer and loose points for an incorrect answer. No points will be given or lost when checking, but there is a bonus based on the number of questions actually answered. Extra points are given for three correct answers in a row. The player with the highest score when the time is up and the bonus has been calculated wins the game.

Game controls and functions

Challenge from the game list: A player who has created a game will be placed in the game list and the Challenge button appears. Challenge the player by clicking Challenge. The amount at stake is shown in the game list.

Create a game: You can create a game by clicking “Create game” above the game list. Choose the stake by clicking the coins, the game will be placed in the game list open to other players to join. The game will start in 30 seconds after the first opponent has joined.

During play: Answer each question by clicking the correct answer out of the four options. Once you have clicked, you can not change your answer. To check, click the yellow Check button in the middle.

General: There is no time limit for each question but the quicker you answer, the more questions you will be able to finish within one minute. You can see your points above your name. Below is indicated whether you have answered right or wrong to previous questions.

Points

1500 points are given for a correct answer (C) and 500 points are deducted for an incorrect answer (I). Checking leaves your score unchanged. In order to promote answering and not checking/passing (P) a bonus is given based on the number of questions actually answered and the number of them being correct; Bonus = Total score x (C+I)/(C+I+P) x C/(C+I). A bonus of 1500 points will be given for every three correct answers in a row.

Tips

It is about finding the balance between being fast, answering many questions and still keeping the answers correct. The player answering more questions correct is most likely to win. And don’t forget that checking to many questions probably will not pay off since the bonus will reward answering.
